I selected Susan to ship our dogs because she had a very high rating on this site. I needed her to transport my two dogs from Boulder, CO to New York, NY last month. There were one or two recent negative reviews and one very bad one right before she was to pick up my dogs so I reached out for an explanation and she allayed my worries. I also felt it was too late to get a new carrier so went with Susan. I think Susan is a very nice woman and cares about the animals she’s transporting; however, I cannot recommend her and thinks she takes on way too many jobs/animals at once and does not give you honest timelines and updates on where she actually is in the country. She was 6 days late picking up my dogs and this created a major headache for me as my house/dog sitter wasn’t available to work more than a couple of days over the initial timeline. I scrambled to find someone to fill in for her (meanwhile, I was already in NY). I nearly had to find a third house sitter but my neighbor came through for us by being available at 9:30 p.m. when Susan finally came. I understood some of this delay because there was very bad weather (tornadoes, etc) across the mid section of the U.S. in May. She told us she would be taking about a week to get them to NY. It was 13 DAYS. From what I gleaned on another review here, my dogs were picked up with another dog from Denver and taken all the way to California to deliver that dog! I thought she would be getting close to NY mid way and reached out (which I had to do nearly every time instead of being proactively updated) and found out that she was in Arizona. Then, I was told we were the first stop for Friday, June 14th and to expect them between 10 and noon. I had to reach out to her that morning to learn of new ETA and she told me there was yet another delay—she picked up a very aggressive dog who she decided to pass on (or pick up later) and had to re-route so she promised a drop off for Saturday. I expected the dogs Saturday by noon but got them close to 3 p.m. They stunk to high heaven so we needed to bathe them immediately and discovered my older dog had two bleeding wounds/injuries. They were from skin tags he was picking at—most likely from being crated in a van for nearly two weeks. The positives: Susan worked with us on invoicing and sent pictures every couple of days. She was responsive when I texted. The negatives: A six day delay in pick up (actually more when I consider how her timeline kept shifting early in May). Two weeks for transport (when I was told a week) and crowded, unsanitary conditions in her van resulted in self inflicted injuries for our 12 year old dog. Cannot recomend.

You can tell Nelly really cares about animals. I give her props for transporting a 55lb American Staffordshire Terrier over 2000 miles. She let my dog ride shotgun the whole way; way better than in a kennel in the back of some trailer. The journey did take 6 days as the weather was not cooperating and I’m sure she had other shipments she had to make, but my dog made it to TX safe and sound. Thanks Nelly! Happy to know people are still willing to help transport banned dog breeds when the airlines refuse to.

We were very nervous about looking for a driver for a rescue cat that needed to be driven from Oklahoma to Wisconsin to a foster home. We feel truly blessed to have found Ginger! It was stressful because I couldn't do the drive myself the way I would do it with my rescue experience that I have. Ginger has years of rescue and foster experience that allows her to know what each animal requires and how they need to be treated and transported. My friend is living in the same area Ginger lives and was able to network with a rescue group who confirmed her rescue/ foster experience and her love for animals. Once I spoke with her on the phone I knew she was our driver. We didn't have a large kennel so Ginger provided one for us and had it all setup and ready for our little passenger. Her vehicle was neat and clean, she was perfectly on time from start to finish and she kept in touch the whole way. If I called her- she answered rt away or called rt back. Rescue cats are normally pretty stressed- this cat arrived relaxed and happily purring after a 15 hour drive! We even had a bit of a misunderstanding with the timing and our foster parent but Ginger never got upset and assisted as she could. All in all a GREAT experience. Ginger has integrity and truly cares about the comfort and care of her little passengers! I would not hesitate to trust Ginger with my own little guys- Ginger is a great pick!

Communication poor, argumentative. Having paid half up front, I refused to pay the balance until I saw the puppy. Unbelievably, the drivers refused to show me the puppy. They told Gloria that they had held up the puppy for me to see through the windshield. Looked more like a drug standoff than a puppy delivery. Driver would barely pull in my driveway. Initially was told they would deliver between 2 and 3 AM! The whole thing was a nightmare. Use someone else!

Emi is incredible! We can’t say enough about how positive of an experience we had with her pet transportation service. Our family was making a cross-country move from Nashville, TN to Seattle, WA, and we were hyper concerned with how to safely transport our dog, and first child, Arthur. Emi immediately made us feel comfortable by calling us to discuss her service, how Arthur had a special need because he is blind, and how she planned to take care of Arthur along the multi-state journey. Our beloved smart and sweet dog Bella was killed last night during transport due to the negligence of Christopher Shane Hallman, namesake of the company Shane’s Smooth Ride out of Elrod, Alabama. My mother had hired Shane to transport my three dogs from Alaska to Upstate NY. Cocky and reckless, Shane failed to secure the clasp on her collar and she “ran into the interstate”, where she was struck by a vehicle. We had to have her euthanized as her spine was broken by the hit. Our other two dogs arrived alive, but dehydrated, starved and deeply shaken. Through the GPS tracking he invited me to, Life 360, I was able to see Shane driving at an average speed of 87 mph from Alaska to NY. I was also able to see he was texting and posting to social media WHILE driving at those speeds. Shane was more invested in posting political vitriol and hate speech on the Facebook page he referred me to to see pictures of my dogs (now all erased since he killed my dog) than providing any quality of care. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Shane was also driving MY OWN CAR, which he drove into the ground, causing a breakdown (it had been thoroughly checked for this same trip 3 weeks prior and was deemed completely roadworthy by Midas of Wasilla, Alaska). Now I have two dogs instead of three and a car that jerks when you accelerate without any air-conditioning system because he opted for the cheapest repair possible. He has no respect for other people's property or the lives in his care. It's about volume and speed and the bottom line. We found Shane’s Smooth Ride here through Citizen Shipper. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE SHADY AND ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY. If you read the review directly below this one, Bella is the SECOND DOG THEY HAVE KILLED IN THE LAST TWO DAYS. I suspect Shane PHYSICALLY HIT MY DOGS, INCLUDING BELLA, WHO I BELIEVE WAS RUNNING FROM HIM FOR THAT REASON. I want them off the road, and I will not relent until they are. This will NEVER happen to another dog or another family, so help me God. If you have had a similar experience with Shane's Smooth Ride and/or Christopher Shane Hallman, please email me at [email removed] We are considering all options, including civil lawsuit. None of this will bring our Bella back, of course, but perhaps it will ensure these people never kill another pet.

DOG DIED HOURS AFTER TRANSPORT. Our family dog, Marshall, a 90lbs 4 year old golden retriever, was picked up in Massachusetts in excellent health ( with recent vet certificate) and was dropped off in poor condition at the kennel and died 6 hours later. We chose Bryan as our carrier due to high reviews on this site & all communications from set-up through drop-off were very pleasant and responsive. Bryan led us to believe the whole time (and still asserts) that Marshall was doing fine and looked well, maybe a "little depressed" and not eating. The kennel owner, without knowing of any preexisting health conditions, guessed that our dog suffered from heat stroke, such as being left in a hot car, and also mentioned from his observations that Bryan acted hurried and unprofessional. He also mentioned that Marshall was not travelling in a crate which I believe is against USDA regulation. I later checked and I couldn't find any evidence that Bryan is licensed by the USDA for interstate travel. We have not been able to contact him since the dropoff so we have gone through citizenshipper.com (http://citizenshipper.com/) , but they will not act without "100% knowing" the cause of death. This is the factual account of our experience, but we think the facts point to major degradation of Marshall's health sometime during the transport. As you can imagine our family is incredibly broken from losing our beloved family member. We can't bring him back but we want to do anything to prevent it from happening to anyone else. ................................................................. DRIVER REBUTTLE: We did contact Kevin multiple times to ask if we could try feeding Marshall wet food and were told "no, he'll eat eventually" and this went on for 3 days. We always crate every animal and provided pictures of Marshall in his crate to Citizenshipper. We have rear A/C in our Van so Marshall was never left in a HOT CAR. We FOLLOW USDA REGULATIONS on how to transport animals. We feel horrible about what happened to Marshall but it did happen at a boarding facility and not in my care. If it happened in my care then we would take full blame.

My dog DIED in transit to me while in their care! My family did everything we could think of to make sure our dogs arrived safe and our dog died. We hired this company to drive our two Huskies age 6 and 7 from Arizona to Indiana. Shane said our dogs would be picked up Wednesday by 9pm. On Tuesday a Cody NOT Shane texted my mother (who had our dogs while we were in transit) and sent her a picture of another dog and said he was on his way. Shane never told us he was not the one to pick up our animals so we called Shane and he said he contracts with drivers and confirmed Wednesday. At midnight PST Cody finally arrived to pick them up. My mom was very clear that our dogs are not familiar with crates and Cody assured us they would be in the best care. After 5 days still not arriving we contacted Cody and he said he was going to more states to pick up more dogs (he'd been to California, Oregon, Montana). We were very confused why he was going West from Arizona. On the 8th day Cody called and said our 6 year dog did not wake up. They were in Tulsa Oklahoma (8 days later and they were still almost 800 miles and 3 states away). It should not have taken that long to get to us. Absolutely unacceptable!! They took my dog to the vet and asked us if we wanted to pay for the autopsy. My dog died in their care and Shane wouldn't even pay for the autopsy to determine the cause. Citizenshipper after we reached out to them offered to pay for the autopsy. In their findings Cody told them at day 5 our dog stopped eating. We were NOT told he wasn't eating. I am so saddened and disappointed that my dog did not make it. He still had my 7 year old husky. We were very concerned and asked that she be brought to us right away. But even then, after losing one pet, they chose to make a stop on the way to us. It's all about the money. They did not take proper care of our dog. The autopsy proved our dog had not eaten. Despicable. We have hired an attorney to sue. Do NOT hire them.
