McKenna Moore shares how CitizenShipper helped her find safe pet transport to get her mini Aussie from Portland to Texas when flying wasn’t an option.
“So having this as an option was less stressful on the dog and just made more sense for our whole family so I could have her sooner.”
McKenna Moore needed to bring Betsy Blue, her mini Aussie, from Portland, Oregon, to her new home near DFW, Texas. With more than 2,000 miles between them, finding a safe and dependable way to make the journey was a priority.
Flying wasn’t a safe pet transport option for Betsy
McKenna got Betsy in August, when the summer heat made flying unsafe for her dog. That meant she needed another way to get Betsy to Texas. An option that was less stressful for the dog and made McKenna comfortable while she was separate from her pup was a priority.
A long-distance pet transport can be difficult to coordinate, especially when you’re sending a beloved dog across the country. McKenna wasn’t just looking for a shuttle for Betsy; she wanted a transporter that would keep her dog well cared for throughout the 2,000+ mile journey.
Finding a caring and communicative transport team
McKenna chose to find a transporter on CitizenShipper’s marketplace for Betsy’s journey from Portland to DFW. Throughout the trip, the transporters kept her updated, shared photos, and made their location visible in real time.
That communication made a major difference. Instead of wondering where Betsy was or how she was doing, McKenna could follow the journey and see regular updates from the people caring for her dog.
“The transporters were super communicative and efficient and they sent photos, which I really
appreciate because no one’s more obsessed with my dog than me.”
The team also stayed flexible around the arrival. When they expected to reach Texas at 1 a.m., they
checked with McKenna about whether she wanted them to wait until morning-giving her control over the
final handoff.
A happy reunion in Texas
Betsy arrived in great shape after traveling more than 2,000 miles. When she saw McKenna, she immediately ran over to greet her, tail wagging. She even went back to say goodbye to the transport team before happily hopping into McKenna’s car.
For McKenna, that reaction was the clearest sign that the trip had gone well. Betsy had clearly bonded with her transport team, and the long drive hadn’t been traumatic for her. “So I guess being in a car for that, for that many hours was not traumatic for her and she clearly loved her team,” she said.
With CitizenShipper, McKenna was able to bring Betsy home sooner through an option that felt safer and less stressful than flying in the August heat (which is usually not possible due to airline heat embargos). She now recommends CitizenShipper to other pet owners who need a dependable way to move their pets long distance.
